everybody knows that the problem with,playables is that they're really bloody,hard to make right,maybe not,in this growth masterminds we're,actually going to chat with somebody who,says they're actually really easy if you,know the right way,so today I did a LinkedIn live with,Craftsman plus CEO and founder Alex,marutka and we chatted about playables,where they work where they don't work,how they can be created very very,quickly and easily five minutes ten,minutes he said and kind of the benefits,and many of the benefits that you get,from using them,enjoy hello everybody we are here we are,live we are looking forward to having a,great chat this is creatives for the win,the evolution of playables and you know,what let's start here somewhere around,2016 the the dim Mists of digital time,way back when seven years ago six years,ago somebody created the first playable,ad it was a unique game that you could,enjoy you could have some fun with,there's also an ad that didn't suck last,year fast forward to 2021 according to a,liftoff report playable ads work the,most effective ad format in every month,other than September when they tied with,another format I mean it makes a lot of,sense right it's there's engagement,people do something they're looking at,it it's fun who doesn't like fun most,people like fun sometimes it's tied to a,reward because it might be a rewarded ad,you get something in a game or an app,that you're actually using or playing,and it often shows something of what the,advertised app or customer experience is,all about so that's all kind of perfect,it's all kind of good why aren't more,people using playables why aren't all,ads playable,well of course they don't work in all,scenarios but the bigger issue is it's,kind of challenging it's kind of hard,and at least one way playables have kind,of sucked right they're hard to create,it's slow to make them it's expensive to,make them they're inflexible you change,some brand you change some things it's,hard to fix that to update that it's,also been hard to incorporate user,generated content so is there a solution,for that could there be something that,you can do that makes it easier quicker,faster cheaper should you be looking,harder at playables and can they even,solve some of the issues that we have,right now with targeting with Apple's,ATT and privacy issues and other stuff,just maybe in this LinkedIn live we're,chatting with the person you see on the,screen right there it's Craftsman plus,CEO Alex maruca welcome Alex,thanks for having me John it is a think the first,ever playables were probably from,um and nectar which actually I got my,start in Mobile at a company called,graystripe got bought by value click um,and so a couple guys left the company to,go fill the uh a playable platform way,ahead of their their time I'd say but,the issue was uh the internet speed and,devices that we were on weren't able to,uh they weren't able to execute their,Vision the way they had hoped so they,were thinking like how do we take games,stream them into units and just the,latency and load time lag ended up kind,of being the like one of the main,devices to the business,um fast forward a few years I think that,was probably 2012 2013. we started,getting into more more mainstream,playables again the issue with that was,the playables kind of looked a little,blurry so you'd see like you know ads in,Mobile came from static banner ads to uh,full screen interstitial which was a big,step for the space moving it to video,um which is when I joined App 11 was,probably like the video Heyday with a,fungal and AD colony and so you get from,video to the next evolution of playable,but back then you know we were still on,you know who knows iPhone three or four,and there was you know 3G came out and,there was no LT there was no 5G 4G any,of those sort of um advances in,technology so playables in Concepts were,a great a great idea,um they still worked,um they just didn't work as effectively,as they do now and certain brands could,never use them because of,um the Fidelity question like Hey how do,we build it we want to do playables but,uh we want to cheat the Fidelity of the,game accurate how do we do that and in,this environ

best,practices to help boost your ad,performance,today i'll be taking you through some,creative tips and tricks to help you,achieve performance results you've been,wanting to achieve for your campaigns,when it comes to advertising there are a,lot of different elements you need to,take into consideration to ensure the,decisions that you make for your assets,that you produce will help achieve the,ultimate campaign success,so at tiktok we have analyzed the,creative data to help us understand what,creative elements are needed to ensure,great performance results for your,ticktock campaigns,with the information we have gathered,from the analysis we have developed,universal creative best practice guides,shoot high-res,when it comes to the quality of creative,we advise you to use creative with a,minimum of 720 pixel resolution,when advertisers use creative with a,minimum of 720 pixels we have found that,there's a 312 percent left in,conversions compared to creatives below,that 720 res,go big full screen,we highly recommend you use a 9 by 16,aspect ratio to ensure you maximize the,surface area of any device for maximum,creative performance,assets that use 9x16 aspect ratio had a,91 conversion lift compared to those,with other aspect ratios such as the,16x9,rally them to act we found by adding in,a clear cta within the creative there is,a 152 lifting conversion so make sure,you put in that clear cta for your,creatives,make some noise,include audio of any type to your,creatives the more relevant sounds you,use the better it'll be for example,let's say you're selling some healthy,homemade freeze-dried snacks adding in,the crunch sound of the snack would be,useful or like a sound to complement the,overall creatives will be super handy as,well,by adding in sound we found that there,was a 16 lift in impressions compared to,assets with no sound elements,keep it short and sweet,on average we found if the video length,ranges between 21 to 34 seconds it,helped drive a two percent lift in,impressions and a whopping 280 percent,lift in conversion,the shorter and catchier you make your,creatives the better the overall,performance will be,here is a quick little summary of the,universal creative elements outlined,all you need to do is remember these,five universal tips and tricks,create a resolution minimum of 720 pixel,resolution,ensure you embrace the power of sound,and have sound elements,have a clear cta within the creative to,prompt the user to take action,and keep your videos short and sweet,between 21 to 34 seconds,and finally have your creative in a,vertical format so the 9x16 to maximize,your device screen,now i'd like to take you through some,more fun and exciting creative best,practices for our ecommerce advertisers,and market,mix up your creatives,we found that there is a 38 lift in,conversion when advertisers used a,variety of different scenes in their,assets compared to a continuous shot,where products were showcased,having elements of transitions give the,creative a more exciting fun effect,which will keep your users more engaged,leading to a better campaign outcome,get them to act,use closed captions through an on-screen,text that is clearly displayed with an,offer or a cta,we found advertisers to do this had a 16,lift in impressions and an 80 lift in,the conversions for the campaigns,voiceover and an offer winning well,welcome to our sip uh thank you for,coming like anna mentioned,the title all you need to know about,playable ads,for me it sounds a bit presumptuous but,it is my goal to share with you,some of our experience and challenges,that we faced,while working with playable ads sharing,some small steps that might help you go,the extra mile in your project,for those of you that don't know me my,name is micah i'm the tech sales,developer here at starloop,uh i like long walks by the beach and,nah,well well who doesn't uh anyways i work,as a middlemen between the sales team,and the production team,but before i get into it i'd like to,give a shout out to the amazing people,on the playable ads team here at star,loop,without their hard work and progress i,wouldn't have anything to talk about,so thank you guys and keep up the good,work you're awesome,um that said down to business in this,presentation,i plan on sharing a brief introduction,to what playable ads are,we all know what they are but do we,really,i'll mention some tricky catches that,make working with playable ads a,challenge,and after that i'll discuss some,solutions that can be used to confront,these challenges,along with some pros and cons when,comparing different approaches,finally i'll mention how we work here at,starloop and how we can help bring your,project to life,before opening up to some questions and,answers at the end,already i'm assuming most of you are,gamers,and have at least played some kind of,game on some mobile device,while playing at any given moment an ad,might pop up,and between levels or after dying,playable ads fit into these categories,of interstitial ads,that come in interrupt gameplay but,instead of being,just a flat image they include a small,mini mini mini game that can be played,and i say it with these quotes,because if you really stop and think,about it oftentimes they're simplified,versions of the actual game and that,game,is already a mini game so really we're,talking about super small stuff,all these playable ads tend to follow,three basic steps or phases,first they capture the user's attention,and effectively,immerse the user in the game and how to,play,after playing a small demo the users,should be able to know whether or not,they want to install the app,and keep playing the game even more at,this point,a clear call to action or cta is,displayed,asking the users to install the app,usually taking the user to the app store,or the google play to download we all,know this format we've seen it many,times,but why do companies need playable ads,what benefits do they bring,just name a few of the many benefits for,example,maybe players download your game and,then they uninstall it,because it wasn't really what they were,looking for what if you could guarantee,high lifetime value users early on in,the game's lifecycle,by playing a playable ad for your game,first you give the audience a chance to,experience the gameplay before,installation,therefore reducing the number of,undesired app on installs,and improving retention rates you can,also improve conversion rate,they help boost the conversion rate in,your ad campaigns by lowering the cost,per acquisition,and cost per click they drive more,engaged users and deliver a higher ecpm,to publishers,and playable results playable ads have,up to seven times higher click-through,rates,than a standard video ad sorry,now here's how we start to find the,surprises and challenges,that something apparently simple like a,mini mini mini game,start to bring there's a catch if you,interrupt gameplay and show the user and,force them,to see your ad that means you're forcing,them to also,download the ad and all of the mini game,before it can even be shown if this is,on wi-fi it's not a big deal it wouldn't,be very noticeable,but if your audience is using mobile,data plans and your game takes two,minutes to download,or even worse uses up all of the users,monthly data,you'll end up with some very grumpy no,longer potential clients,so the size of the playable ad has to be,restricted,but how much any ideas well,these sizes are restricted the games,have to be between two to five megabytes,depending on the ad network,that much that is not much space at all,and to make things tricky,usually only one index one index file is,permitted so we can't have build folders,either,so now wait mike you're saying that we,have to get an entire game into two,megabytes,what when i first discovered this i,didn't believe how this is possible what,kind of black magic is happening,so how do we cram an entire game into,two megabytes,well it doesn't matter if the game build,comes from a custom html framework,or from cocos or from unity or wherever,it still needs to be simplified it even,more,and how so well this simplification,needs to also take into consideration,all the assets all the code,all the arts all the intelligent,artificial intelligence,any game logic everything that's,necessary for the actual game,and it needs to go into one

how's it going everybody corbin here,from zoco marketing in today's video we,are talking about tick-tock lead,generation specifically we're going to,be talking about how to create tick-tock,lead gen forms um these things are great,for anybody who's looking to collect,more leads especially with the new ios,14 update it is helpful to have the lead,gen forms so it makes tracking really,easy it's all inside of the platform,instead of using cookies and third-party,data essentially,so i highly recommend looking into lead,gen forms if you are a company that,collects leads or wants to collect leads,so let's jump right in on how to do this,so the first thing is you will need a,tick tock ads manager if you don't have,one already just go to google tic talk,ads and create the ad manager through,that platform once you're done creating,that you will see a screen that looks,something similar to this and the first,thing we're going to want to do is,create a campaign if you are new to tick,tock and you want more in-depth way on,how to set up a whole campaign i do have,a video down below that you can go check,out for the purpose of this tutorial,we're going to kind of blow through the,settings of targeting and stuff just to,get right to the lead gen form so first,thing you want to do is click click in,here and come to campaigns and that is,where the screen that i'm actually in,right now so we're just going to wait,for this to load in and then we're going,to come in and create hit create here,now this is going to drop us into a,format very similar to,facebook ads or linkedin ads or all the,other platforms essentially you have,your campaign you have an ad group level,and then you have the ads itself for,this specific objective,we do have awareness consideration and,conversion objectives but for lead,generation specifically we want to,choose this new fancy little new uh red,check there uh for lead generation so,we're gonna click on that and we're,gonna hit continue i was editing a,different ad so that's why it says that,there and it's there we go we're going,to hit continue,oh sorry i come down here to the,campaign setting name so i'm just going,to call this test lead gen,and then they do have this new feature,called create split test i haven't,tested it myself yet stay tuned i will,be creating a video shortly on this and,the results on i'm testing that so,subscribe if you're interested in that,but uh not no experience to speak of of,the create split test yet we are going,to add a budget to this we do want a 100,daily budget and we're going to hit,continue as i mentioned if you want more,in-depth tutorial on all the settings,inside of this ad group you could do,that here we're going to rename this,test ad group as well,if you want more in depth you can check,out the video up above i go through all,the tick tock settings and,everything that you need to know here,for here we're going to leave user,comments on we're going to leave video,download on creative type we're not,going to have an automated creative type,we just want the one manual video that,we currently have audiences this is um,if you're uploading audiences,demographics you can target by like,united states by male female you can,target different age ranges say that you,wanted to your your typical people that,you're targeting for legion is 25 to 30,for 44. you could do that in the united,states,then languages no limit um i do,recommend if you are going to be,targeting the united states to change,this this usually most uh ad platforms,they just have it default is english if,you're targeting the united states but,um here it is no limit so i do recommend,change that to english then here is,where the kind of bread and butter of,the targeting kind of happens you have,interest targeting uh behavior targeting,these are things like your remarketing,and things uh remarketing lists uh,people who have hit your website or,watched videos till the end and then,behavior people who followed creators,who like any of these different topics,inside of here so a lot of different,options if you want to learn more about,uh tik tok ad targeting like i said,check out the video below i don't want,to bore you with a video that i've,already created essentially but you can,go check check that one out if device,targeting target expansion i do,recommend leaving that unchecked,and just as a heads up for the daily,budget um it does need to be at least 20,a day depending on the cost of your lead,uh say that you typically get leads,around 10 or 20 whatever it may be your,budget needs to be at least that when,you go through the targeting so say for,instance that i want to get around five,dollars lead and i know that my typical,cost or that i want to pay for a lead is,20 i'm going to put it at 100 a day you,can put a schedule inside of here to see,when you want the ads to actually run,you know when you want it to start maybe,say instead I guess that's me hello everyone uh,thank you so much for taking the time to,fill out this room and listen to me and,talk about tech talk for a little while,I would like to start off with um an,acknowledgment gcap 2022 is taking place,on the lands of the warundry and the,bunarong peoples and I wish to,acknowledge them as traditional owners I,would also like to pay my respects to,their Elders past present and Aboriginal,Elders of other communities who may be,here today,so again thank you again it's just,really nice to see people in person see,faces feel Vibes I mean a lot of what I,do of course and my work is talk to,people online so it's really just been,an extension of that but uh nothing,replaces uh those sweet in-person,feelings uh so I guess you are all here,today to see my talk it is called,braving Tick Tock and creating community,and running ads which is an appropriate,title because I myself had to Brave,tiktok this year even though it was very,scary and I feel like I have learned a,few things about it so I thought I would,share them at this year's gcat,who am I for those of you who don't know,my name is Victoria Kershaw I've been,working in game development for about,seven or so years now I've worked at,some pretty cool companies including,pickpock EA fire monkeys uh League of,Geeks and now I'm at the stunningly,wonderful Studio dry dock a newer Studio,on the scene but definitely one to watch,if I do say so myself I've worked with,some pretty cool titles in that time,like Need for Speed The Sims enter the,Dead uh and are Mallow,I have been in publication the,publication side of video games for my,entire career despite sometimes that not,seeming like the sexiest to a lot of,people within game development or,outside of game development it is,something that I absolutely love I find,it so interesting doing the problem,solving in those spaces I love finding,an audience getting to know what they,like figuring out how to talk to them,figuring out how to say the same message,10 15 20 30 times I love figuring out,what they like figuring out how to serve,up our product in different ways and I,particularly love working with other,creatives in the team as well as content,creators outside of our team,I would be remiss to not talk about the,project that has been my life for the,last 12 months and when I say all the,time I really mean all the time,um that is wildflowers our gorgeous cozy,game that was uh released on new,platforms very recently uh its first,launch was actually back in,February on Apple arcade we've had about,500 000 downloads they are so far,um and we have come to switch and steam,within literally the last two weeks we,came out on the 20th of September so,it's been a pretty wild time lately a,little bit about what wildflowers is on,the surface you're like yes okay uh cozy,farming simulation game I know with the,most recent Nintendo Direct there's a,lot of speculation about the,oversaturation of farming games um and,ours does start perhaps in the typical,fashion a early 20s woman uh moves to an,island to look after her ailing,grandmother and the farm after her life,kind of falls apart in the city but,where things go a little bit different,is Grandma is actually a witch and,coincidentally so are you there is a,local coven that you become a part of,um and I think what really makes,Wildflower special is the fact that we,have this big beautiful heartfelt,narrative story that runs right through,the game and is actually expressed,through a fully voice-acted set of,characters uh We've we have an,orchestral score done with a real,Orchestra there's some pretty pretty,special things going on and now,sometimes uh unassuming covers,um so I've been the marketing lead and,have done I guess everything that has,been marketing related with this title,which has been quite a few things uh to,name a few we've got game naming logo,Direction game descriptions storefronts,assets and trailer Direction Community,Building guiding content creation press,running ads working with creators I,could go on,um this is of course how I got started,with Tick Tock outside of my own,incessant personal scrolling as it was,the platform that I wanted to focus on,for discoverability,so,I would it's really important that I do,a disclaimer tick tock tick tock tick,tock is this is how it's working to the,best of my knowledge right now but it is,it is a young platform and it is,actually quite young in its approach to,monetization as most of you will be,aware a lot of the users of this,platform are not Spenders they do not,have jobs so Tick Tock is really trying,to figure out how to squeeze some cash,out,things are changing and evolving all the,time even when I was writing this talk,some things were out of date and I had,to update them uh goodbye to the,Instagram button and the YouTube button,you will be missed,growth has been a lot slower than this,year than I would have
