Shopify Navigation Tutorial ( Mega Menus/Multi Level Menus/Dropdown Menus/Header Menu and more...)

76 percent of online consumers said that, what they care about the most in a,website design is how easy it is for, them to find what they are searching for,yes 76 and this tells you how much it is,important to make sure that when people, land on your store they can easily and, smoothly move around and they can easily, explore what you offer and get to know, your brand more and this honestly can, never be done without a very clear and, organized navigation menu,hi there I am jihab and on this YouTube, channel I share with you videos related,to e-commerce entrepreneurship and more, and in today's video I'm going to show, you how to set up your Shopify, navigation menus in the best way, possible but quickly and before jumping,to my PC I want to tell you some things, that you need to keep in mind while, organizing your navigation manuals my,first tip for you is to always put your, customers in mind put yourself in your, customers shoes and ask yourself what, would make sense for your customers what, would they be searching for let's say,for example you sell it jewelries so,most of probably your customers will, want to find your products based on the, product type so you need to have a Rings, collection a bracelets collection maybe,a watch collection in this case you need,to link to all of these collections, within your navigation menu but not only, that let's say I'm shopping online for,Rings there might be a specific kind of,rings that I'm interested in so maybe I,want to buy a wedding ring maybe I want,to buy an engage engagement ring or,maybe I want to buy an everyday ring in,this case you need to have the, subcollections within your navigation, menu as well and in order to do that you, need to create a multi-level navigation, menu and I'm going to show you exactly, how to do that when you move to my,screen my second tip for you is the, following when you are naming your menu, navigation tabs always use names that, make sense to your customers so let's,say for example you want to link to your, wedding rings collection simply use, these same exact words to name your tab, this will not only help your customers,to find what they are searching for and, understand what you are selling but it,will also help your store for SEO,purposes my third tip for you is the, following when you are creating or maybe, redesigning your navigation menu always, keep your tabs condensed don't exceed, seven tabs for your navigation menu and,I'm talking about the first level tabs, and I'm going to tell you why our brains, usually can't hold more than seven, things or seven ideas at the same time,on the short term so if you don't want, your customers to get frustrated and, leave just keep it simple and keep your, tabs to seven or maybe even less to five,my final tip for you and it is actually,a sacred tip always make sure that your, manual looks good on mobile so now we,are going to move to my screen to start, setting up your Shopify navigation menus, are you ready let's start so here I am,inside of the Shopify dashboard and in,here I want you to go to online store, and to navigation and in here under, menus this is the section where we are, going to set up our navigation menus and,as you can see by default we have two, different menus we have the menu and we,have the main menu the footer menu is,the one you see below in here where you, link to all of your policies let's say,to the secondary type of links so they, are not as important as the one you find,in the main menu which is the menu you,use in here and this is a an example, actually about a store with a good, navigation menu as you can see in here, they have six different elements and, under under each of these elements they, have different sub Collections and sub, tabs I'm going to show you how to set up,something very similar to this in a few, seconds but I'm going I'm using this, website as an example so you can get, inspired okay this is also another, website in here and as you can see they, have the main tabs and then under each, tab they have different sub tabs and, different subcollections, this you see in here are the mega menus, this let's say design or this look is,the Mega menu, and here I need to tell you something,if you want to have mega menus on your, store you must make sure that you are, using a VM that supports Mega menus and,it's even better to make sure that your, theme supports Mega menus on the mobile, version okay the theme I'm using in here,is the focal theme and it's a theme that,I usually recommend to all of my clients, and it supports the mega menus in both, the mobile view and the desktop view, okay so if you are exploring new theme,if you want to upgrade to a new online, store 2.0 theme make sure that your, theme supports Mega menus usually most,of the professional themes support Mega, menus I don't think that the three, themes like the don't see for example, has this option you might need to do,some coding in order to implement this, option within your store if you are, going to use a theme like the dawn theme,a very big part of the

Today we’re going to look at main menus and footer menus.,What they are, what they should include, and how to edit them to fit your business.,Menus are a group of clickable links that help customers navigate through your store’s,main pages and collections.,Each of these clickable links are called a “menu item”.,Most online stores have a main menu at the top or side of the web page.,The placement and style of your menu is determined by your store’s theme.,Before you decide on a theme, make sure that theme’s style of menu will work well for, your business.,A good main menu makes it easy for customers to browse and find what they’re looking, for.,Some menu items you might want to include in your main menu are: product collections,,your “about us” page and your blog page.,If you have a lot of products, consider breaking them up into multiple menu items.,For example Aly Athletics has menu items for new products, products that are on sale, apparel, products, accessories, and equipment.,Footer menus appear at the bottom of your online store.,These menus have menu items that link to information about your business.,For example, frequently asked questions, shipping and refund policies, and contact information, are great to have in your footer menu.,Now that we know which items should go in main and footer menus, it’s time to start, editing your menu.,Let’s begin by adding a new menu item to the main menu.,In the Shopify admin, click Online Store, then Navigation.,From the Menus section, click Main menu, or Footer menu.,In this tutorial, we’ll be working with the main menu.,But, you’ll be able to use the same instructions for the footer menu as well.,Here is the main menu for Aly Athletics.,As you can see the menu items that you add to the Menu Items section, will appear in,your store’s main menu.,If you're just getting started with menus, then your main menu will already have two, default menu items.,The first is titled Home.,This links to your store's homepage.,The second is titled Catalog.,When you click Catalog, you go to a page that lists all of your products.,The footer menu has only one default menu item, called Search.,It links to the search bar for your store.,To add a new menu item click Add Menu Item.,Type in the name for your menu item.,For this example I’m going to type in Athletic Accessories.,After you name the menu item, click the Link text field.,Select the pre-existing page or collection that you want the menu item to link to.,If you don’t have any pages or collections created yet, then check out the links in the, description for videos on those topics.,In some cases, you may not want your menu item to link to anything.,For example, if you’re just creating a menu item for the purpose of having other dropdown, menu items under it.,If you want to create a menu item that doesn’t link anywhere, then in the Link field, type, the # key and select the # key from the results.,This will prevent the menu item from linking anywhere.,For this example menu item, I’m going to select the Athletic Accessories collection,as the link.,After you're done, click Add.,You should now see the new menu item in the Menu items section.,If you want to see what the menu now looks like, click Save.,Then click the eye icon next to Online Store to see it on your home page.,Now, if I click on Athletic Accessories, it takes me to the athletic accessories collection, page.,It’s also possible to create sub categories in your menus, using drop-down menu items.,Watch the next video in this series to learn how to create dropdown menus.,You can also edit menu items that already exist.,To do this, click the Edit button next to the menu item.,I’m going to rename my catalog menu item to “All products”.,To finish, click Apply Changes.,You can change the order of your menu items by clicking and dragging the six dot icon, next to the menu item name.,If you want to delete one of the menu items, then click the Delete button next to the menu, item, and then click Remove from the pop-up window.,Click Save after you make changes to your menu, and you’ll see those changes reflected,on your online store.,Subscribe now for new tutorials from the Shopify Help Center every week.,If you have questions, then visit help.shopify.com for more information.

How to create drop-down menus || Shopify Help Center

How to create drop-down menus || Shopify Help Center

If you want to create  drop-down menus for your store,  ,but aren’t sure where to  start, then keep watching.,If you haven't set up your  header and footer menus,  ,then watch the previous video  in this series to learn how.  ,You’ll need to have your header menu set  up before you follow along with this video. ,Drop-down menus are used to organize products,  collections, and pages in the main menu of your  ,online store. This type of organization makes  it easier for customers to navigate your online  ,store, and quickly find what they’re looking for. Drop down menus are made up of top level menu  ,items, and nested menu items. Top level menu items appear in  ,the main menu of your store, and nested  menu items appear in a dropdown menu. ,You can have up to two levels of nested  menu items within a top level menu item.,In this example, one of the  top level menu items is Shop.  ,Shop has four, first level nested items within  it. Shop all, Tops, Bottoms, and Outdoor. ,Everything nested under those first level  items, make up the second level of nested items. ,Let’s create a first level nested menu item now.,In this example, I’ll start  with the Equipment menu item,  ,and nest the collections for Fitness Trackers,  Yoga Equipment and Water bottles under it.,Start in the Shopify admin. From your Shopify  admin, click Online Store. Then, click Navigation,  ,and then, Main Menu.,If you haven't created the menu item that  you want to nest, then click Add menu item,  ,give the menu item a name, and link  it to an existing collection or page.,For full instructions on adding menu items,  watch the first video in this series.,To begin the nesting process, first, I  grab the icon next to Fitness Trackers,  ,and drag it up, and to the right, under Equipment.,When you drag a menu item to the right, it nests  it under the previous, or top-level menu item.  ,You know that the menu item  is nested correctly because  ,it’s offset from the rest of the menu items. ,Now I’ll do the same for the Yoga  Equipment and Water bottles menu items. ,To see what the nested menu  looks like on your online store,  ,click Save. Then click the  eye icon next to Online Store. ,Now let's create a second level nested item. ,In this example I’m going to  take the collection,”Yoga mats”  ,and nest it under “Yoga Equipment” making  it a second level drop down menu item. ,I’ll do this by clicking and holding the six  dot icon next to “Yoga mats”, and moving it  ,under and to the right of the Yoga equipment menu  item. Let’s click save and look at that change. ,Now, when we look at our homepage, you can see  Yoga mats, under Yoga Equipment, under Equipment. ,Subscribe now for new tutorials from  the Shopify Help Center every week.  ,If you have questions, then visit  help.shopify.com for more information.

Shopify Tutorial: Multi Level Drop Menu Tutorial Guide Filter Menu (2022)

Shopify Tutorial: Multi Level Drop Menu Tutorial Guide Filter Menu (2022)

what's up guys and welcome to the video, today i'm just going to go through a few, steps on how to set up a multi-level,drop down menu in your shopify store, this video guide will also apply to all, shopify themes not just our own here, clean canvas so depending on what theme, you're using,it might look a little bit different to,what i'm going to show you in the video, but not to worry,so if you liked the video please do give,it a thumbs up and do consider, subscribing because like this content, will be putting out more future content, each week, which we hope will help you elevate your, store to the next level, now with all that being said let's just, get into the video alright guys,we're just going to show you uh my,current setup on my demo store,so i'm using symmetry for this um demo,so my theme will may not look exactly, the same how yours is set up,but don't worry this is still going to,be the same premise and should work,so i have a two options here i have a,double layer drop down which is very, nice and quick to create and i'm going,to show you that first and then i'm,going to go on to showing you how to,create the multi-layer drop-down menu,so what i mean by that is here you can,see multi-layer,i can see i have these four headings so,say for example,if i was to put these as you know boys, girls children etc and then inside, you can have the links to the products,or collections that, reflect only those things now for the, demo i'm not going to go that deep i'm,just, mainly going to show you how to create, these but this is just to give you a,little idea,on how you can start thinking about, setting up your menu,so all right guys i'm going to jump into, the navigation now and show you how you, can, create a double drop down layer first so,here we are in the admin and this is,where we're going to start and pretty, much be playing around with for the most,of this video,so head over to online store and, navigation on the left, and then you're going to be greeted, probably with the same kind of layout i,have here, main menu and footer if you aren't it,might have meant that you deleted them a,while ago but don't worry you can add, them new ones in here by clicking add, menu, and set it up there but for here i'm,going to just work on my main menu,so here we go i'm just going to close, that so,looking at it like this it doesn't look, too terrifying and even though when i,start opening up these things you might, start like a little bit of panic but, don't worry i'm gonna go through, each one nice and slow and hopefully by,the end you'll be able to do it all on,your own,so i have home double layer drop down, and the multi-layer drop down so as you,can see one two three,if i go to my main website you have it,here one two three,so double layer drop down we're gonna, create first so let's just go here and, click add menu, and i'm gonna call it uh dl2,double their number two here you can, select a link, some themes will give people the option, that, they can have these headings linked to,other pages and some, some themes don't have this um ideally i,don't think they should, but if they do here is where you can, control it so i'm just going to set mine,to home page, because i have to select a link here i,can't just leave it blank um so i'm just, going to select home page,so now selected home page if i was to,save right now, this is how my menu would look so i'm,just refreshing the page and you can see,i have the drop down, here what i was saying there if i click,on this it's not going to bring me,anywhere it's,mainly used for opening closing the drop, down on a click if i want it's also set,on a hover effect so i don't even have,to click anything, but if i click it it'll close um so,that's one of the features with symmetry,so here you can see dl2 at the bottom, but i don't have any drop down menus, that's because i haven't added any so,how do i do that so here i have the dl2,i'm gonna click add menu item, and here's a little trick for you guys, that i find really really cool, instead of giving it a name first if you, know you're going to be naming it after, the link, click on the link first and select, products, and let's say i want it to be called ask,him duffel bag,it's going to automatically put that, name in there for me so it saves me a,little bit of time, which is going to make this video really, really fast so,i've clicked add link and now we can see,it's put under,dl2 now it's not a drop down yet if i,was to save and watch it would just, appear on the menu next to it so i want,to be a drop down so i'm going to grab,it here, and you're going to press down and hold, for a little bit and when you do you see,you kind of like you can move it around,a bit,and there's a little circle on off to,the left of the edge you can see it's,kind of,uh touching the corner what i'm going to,do now is i'm going to,drag my mouse to the right underneath,dl2 and you can see the circle is kind,of moved over as well, creating a kind of stair effect so if i,drag, and just let go right now boom that has,cre

Shopify Navigation Menus

Shopify Navigation Menus

Hey, everybody.,This is Ori from Astral Web, and I'm going to showcase the Shopify, navigation menu setup.,So what are we trying to do in this video?,Very simply, I just want to show you how to manage your header and footer links.,So these are the header links, this what we call the navigation,,and these are the footer sections.,Okay?,So what are we going to do.,So first of all, we go to online store and we go to navigation.,Okay?,And what we're doing is right now we have two things that we're managing, right?,So one is the main menu which is the header, right?,So let's go here.,These are the links in the header and then on the footer, we have the footer.,Now your theme, the theme you choose and/or the custom theme that you've made with your developer,is going to matter, right?,So by default you have the header and the footer.,But if you have certain things like side bars or other, you can create those,,but obviously you need your theme, your design, your layout to work with.,So let's show you how to make some changes.,So I'm clicking on the main menu and it's really simple.,Number one, I have my title.,Obviously, you don't want to change that.,This is just reference for you so you can easily edit in the future and identify it.,And here you have your links, home, brands, menu.,Sorry, men's, women's, contact us, right?,If you click here, you can also have different levels.,You see, there's a small indent here, that means it's a level underneath it.,So you see brands and Adidas.,Brands, there's a down arrow and then the second level,,and you can make third levels, fourth levels, etc.,So let's say, let me give you a few examples.,Let's say I want to add a new one and I want to add our about us page.,So about us and I go here and I can either type in the URL or search for something like about.,Excuse me, I made a typo.,Okay? And then I can click on it, or I can...,And if I want, I can actually exit or I can go here to pages, and then click on about us.,Now what you have here because sometimes I know I go a little quickly, you can select,,easily select it from search, homepage, a collection, a product page, or a blog really.,So what I'm going to do, select about and I'm going to click on add,,and it's right here right now.,Now obviously you see here they're all capitals and this is not capital, so I'm going,to fix this, ABOUT US. Okay.,And now if I want to drag it, if I want to change the order,,you see about us is last.,Let's say I want to put about us second. Okay?,So when you drag it, you see there's a nice bar, a horizontal bar.,You can drag it to different places. Okay?,So I'm going to go here and I am going to save it.,Now one thing about saving in general in Shopify, sometimes it takes a few seconds to catch, right?,So here it worked fine, but sometimes it takes a little more.,So about us, that's it, really simple.,Now because there's different levels, what you can do here is if you want to add a level,,so I can do let's say, I want the about us a new page I did.,I wanted to go underneath brands. Okay?,So I can take this, click on the left-hand side and drag it.,And if you see, if I move to different places, the actual bar is going to move with me, right?,So let's say I want to do it right here under brands.,You see now it's about us, but let's say I want about us to be underneath Adidas,to have a third level, I can also do that.,Okay? So let's do that.,You see that and then I can save it.,Okay. So let's go here. Okay.,Now it went inside, and you can see now about us is underneath Adidas.,So this layout is because of this specific design, specific theme we chose,,but every theme will have a different layout.,But you can see level one, level two, level three.,So what I'm going to do is I'm actually going to remove it.,Let's remove that and that's it.,And anytime you want to do things, you can save it.,It's really, really easy.,Let's save this and basically the footer is the same, right?,So you go here, here's your search, you know, footer menu search.,In this case, this theme only manages this side, this left side, but this is managed,in a different place.,But you understand the point.,So I hope you enjoyed this video.,If you have any questions, let me know.,Happy to answer any questions to go into more detail.,Just let me know in the comments.,I appreciate it.,Thank you very much.

How To Organize Shopify | Setting Up Collections, Tags, and the Navigation Bar (Quick & Easy)

How To Organize Shopify | Setting Up Collections, Tags, and the Navigation Bar (Quick & Easy)

hey guys how's it going my name is Matt, and I've been getting a lot of questions, about how to organize your Shopify store,so I wanted to go over today in this, video how you can set up your, collections in your Shopify store and,how you can create drop-down menus at,the top of your navigation bar in your,Shopify store I'm just gonna go over, everything you need to know about, organizing your Shopify store and making,it easy for your customer to navigate, through your store all right Kay so I,just created a quick test store and, downloaded over Lo and imported some, products so this is what we have to work, with so I imported some shirts some, shoes some sweatshirt swatches just all, kinds of things that belong in different, categories so as you can see right now I,literally just made this store and this,is just the default look this is how its, organized and we're gonna go ahead and, just organize this whole thing create, some navigation bars up here organize, things into the proper collections so,let's go ahead and do that so we'll,close this so the first thing you want,to do let's go ahead and create some, collections for some of these products,so if you go over here and click on,products which I'm already clicked on,and go down to collections you'll see, that we have no collections other than, this home page collection so I actually,I don't think I need that so I'm going,to check the box click on actions here, and delete this selection,so now we have no collection so let's go,ahead and create our first collection, right here alright and this is gonna be,the name of the collection now your, customer can see this name if you set it,up for them to see the name so what I,usually put is I'll put shop first so,I'll put maybe shop watches, okay so let's create a watch collection,so you can add a description for your, collection I never do this but this is,how you can sort your collection so you,can either do it manually and manually, means you select each product you want,in this selection so you can just click, manual save it and then it'll give you, this option to just browse through your, products and you could just checkbox all,the watches alright but since I don't,want to do this manually I'm gonna go,ahead and show you how to do it by tags,I think organizing by tags is a whole, lot better for your store so let's,delete this manual collection and we're,gonna do this again we're gonna create a,collection do shop watches okay and,we're gonna do automated so this is,automatically gonna add products to your, collection and you could do it through, all kinds of criteria so you can see, these are the conditions that the, product needs to meet in order for it to,add to this collection be added to this, collection so you can either add by,title so if you have women in all of,your women's watches in the title you,can just, have everything that has the word women,in the title be added to the collection, you can do by price tags vendors there's,all kinds of things you could do but,we're gonna go ahead and I'm gonna show, you how to do it by tags so select tags, and do tags equal to and I'm gonna do,I'll just do watch so every product, that's tagged with the word watch is,gonna automatically be added this, collection you can add other things to,this collection too by hitting any, condition and adding another product so,maybe we do watches and shoes right and, then everything that has the tagged, shoes and watches will be added to this, collection and then maybe we have to,rename this to watches and shoes shoes, and watches anyway we're gonna go ahead, and stick to just watches stuff so we'll,delete this and hit save so now all the, products that are tagged with the word, watches will show up here but we haven't,tagged many products yet so I'm gonna go,ahead and show you how to do this really, easy really quick just go to your, products all products up here and all,you do is go through your products and, check box all the watches so we have, three watches and we'll go ahead and go,to actions very easy and add tags so now,we're just gonna add the tag here watch, hit enter and,now those products have the tag watches,we go back to our collections shop, watches you can see they've,automatically added to the collection, this is super helpful the automatic way, because every time you add a product if,it's a watch or something you don't have,to worry about putting it in the right, place doing all those things and when, you start to have you know 40 50 60,hundreds of products it's really hard to,manually do everything and that's how I,started I didn't really know how the, automation worked and I manually did it,and it was a big mistake so that's how,you automate your collections so let's,go ahead and create another collection, for shoes and we'll do shoe okay and by,the way this means only products that, match all these conditions will be added,to your store and this is any of the, conditions so for example if I had shoes, and watch here and I had this all, conditions checked that means a
