so anyways it,just leaves you with a little bit of a,smirk in the face and wants you to,actually go ahead and check it out and,second one right there it's just a meme,right it starts with the meme at,the agency thesis where i work with the,top direct-to-consumer e-commerce brands,every single day on their paid social,advertising strategy and a big part of,that is sourcing creators for them every,single day i'm actually working with,creative directors to make the briefs,and the scripts that our creators are,acting out on and we've figured out the,exact type of recipe that converts so in,this video i'm going to show you the,exact recipe and script that you can use,to get people to buy on facebook ads and,tick tock ads this is a great video for,anyone who wants to be a ugc content,creator seriously if you can make,content like this and speak to this type,of script you're gonna get hired again,and again by brands and agencies and if,you're a brand that just wants to of our business these days.,And it's a service that enables you to be a lot less hands-on in like the,day-to-day management, which I know is something that a lot of you all say to,me, is one of the more stressful parts of this social media management job.,But before we get into that, I just have to address the shirt, right?,Like the shirt's a little weird it's January.,I don't know why one of my arms is just completely free here.,I tried to make things fun and, you know, try things that I wouldn't,normally try on the show, but this is one that I do have some questions about.,And if you are content,or user generated content.,Now it's a bit of a misnomer because user generated content is typically when,,or at least back in the day of social media, UGC content would be content that,users, actual users, actual customers would tag the brand or leave comments on.,And then you could repurpose that with permission.,Repost their stories repost their photos that they took wearing your weird,shirts or whatever it is that you sell.,And that really acted as a great salesperson for the brand.,I mean, happy customers are the best salespeople.,I say that all the time and I mean it.,So that's traditionally what UGC content was.,It was organic, you know, it happened naturally reviews,and tags and things like that.,Well, nowadays, I'm sure you all have seen this.,You've seen ads on Instagram.,You've seen ads on Tiktok or Snapchat or Facebook that look like that, they,look like just a normal person is unboxing a purse or putting on makeup,or whatever it is flying a drone.,I don't know whatever the product is.,It just looks like a normal person is doing that, but it's actually a boosted,or, you know, a paid piece of content.,So in that case, I mean, sometimes brands will actually source true UGC,they'll ask real customers, if they can repurpose their posts into an ad.,But a lot of times how that content is actually being made is through,an agency through a freelancer, through an in-house marketing team.,And that is what today's episode is going to be about.,So I got started creating UGC content.,I don't know before it was really a thing.,I didn't really have a name for it.,I still don't actually call it that.,I just call it content creation.,My background is in video full disclosure, but you obviously don't need to have,special training or anything like that.,We'll talk about that in a second, but that is my background.,So I just thought, Hey, I'm just using my video degree and,making videos for companies.,And I've always had a YouTube channel, you know, for years and years.,So it was pretty comfortable making that format of content.,And when I would be managing a social media account and they didn't have any,content to post either organically or as a paid ad, I would just make it, I just,whip out my cell phone or use my DSLR if it was something more advanced then I,would just create the content for them.,So I've really been creating UGC content for many years, without really knowing it.,If I had to rub my marketing crystal ball, I would predict that this format,of content is only going to grow and be in higher demand than ever before.,With the rise of platforms like Tiktok, particularly Tiktok, advertising,,Snapchat ads are still huge.,Facebook ads are still a thing.,Instagram ads are more savvy than ever.,So this type of content really converts well for people because it,just feels very natural and it's very visually compelling and appealing.,Okay.,So how can you get started doing this though, why do I think this,is the next big frontier for social media managers and content creators?,Well, well, I think if you're anything like me and you have already been kind,of doing this without realizing it now is the time to start charging for it.,Don't get me wrong.,Sometimes you just have to do what's right for the customer.,And if your customer has nothing to post, you have to do what's right for them.,And just get live with you for this fast charger,right here it's still a stupid little,thing that i had laying around the house,so my goal today is by the end of this,video i want to get you to a point where,you can consistently pump out high,converting ugc for products like this so,that you can start testing many many,different creatives for your winning,products now if you have ugc creators,feel free to udc creators as a,training to show them how to make high,converting ads for your products so,let's jump right into it so there's a,four-step formula that i use in pretty,much every single ugc ad that i create,or have somebody else create and we're,going to be going through those four,steps now and i'm also going to be,scripting out an actual ugc ad for this,product after we cover these topics so,that you can see how they actually look,in action and then i'm actually gonna,film this for you i'm gonna film an,actual udc ad so that you guys can see,what it actually looks like you know,from base product all the way to,scripting all the way to filming the,actual ugc ad so let's get right into it,now the first thing that i usually like,to do in my ugc ads is calling out the,audience and calling out the problem,these are technically two steps,sometimes i combine them into one step,you just have to feel it out depends on,the product and depends on the audience,now what you're trying to do is put,yourself in the shoes of your ideal,customer so for this product uh this is,a fast charger so it's actually going to,allow you to charge your phones up to,two to three times faster than a normal,wall plug so the people that are dealing,with the problem that this solves are,people that probably have an older,generation of iphone or an older,generation of phone where the battery is,kind of worn out and it's just not as,powerful as it used to be so a lot of,the common problems that they're,thinking of are things like you know,their phones dying halfway throughout,the day their phone's dying when they're,like out at the club or if they're out,to eat at dinner and they you know get,left without a phone or whatever those,other common issues are um just list,those out and just get very clear with,who your target audience is and what,types of problems that they're having,and this part of the ugc ad we're,actually going to call them out and,we're going to directly say hey is your,phone always at 30 by 12 p.m so we're,going to come up with a script that is,actually going to allow me to call out,my audience and basically get their,attention because they're just sitting,there scrolling through their feed you,know not really worrying about anything,maybe they're on the toilet or maybe,they're sitting in their bed so you,really have to call them out and get,their attention really fast so i'm gonna,say something along the lines of,hey,does your phone,keep dying,halfway through the day,you have to watch this video,so we're simply just calling out the,problem and calling out our target,audience these are people that are most,likely having their phones die halfway,through the day or three quarters,through the day and this is obviously an,annoying issue that a lot of people face,so this product is going to appeal to a,broad demographic but we can make it,very clear in the beginning what our,messages and what our goals are with,with uh showing them this video so that,they can be very clear you know exactly,what the topic is going to be about and,make sure that it's actually for them so,the next step is going to be calling up,the problem and since we kind of already,mentioned the problem with does your,phone keep dying halfway through the day,i'm going to tell a little bit of story,about myself um to kind of make it looking for so in,that case a sub 30 second video we,wanted to have both a post ready video,and raw footage from that so I was,actually curious to test the skills of,the content creators I was curious to,see if they were able to actually make a,video that was usable off the start,um then right here content type product,demo so basically the goal was to,Showcase how to use a product no music,right here,um what should creators do usually in,that field we're going to bring up,specifications for that campaign so be,fairly uh upbeat I just noticed there's,actually a typo but fairly upbeat with,your voice tone example I actually,linked to an example of what tone we,wanted to hit,um showcase the benefits of using this,versus traditional tampons what you,don't want well monotone voice and all,face expressions all right that's it and,then comes the storyboard before I get,into the story board though I'm gonna,say to be quite honest one of the,findings I had with this recent wave of,ugc content so what I decided to do is,instead of having our team do the ugc,for the clients I decided to take the,matter into my own hands and myself get,my feet wet my hands dirty and go in the,trenches and do brief that was around the content type,that that Creator was used to already,making this way I was not asking for,anything that I knew they would not be,able to deliver and I was able to,position examples that I know they had,seen prior to working on that specific,campaign so helps a lot I've also did,another campaign which I don't have,right now in front of me to show you but,I did a recent campaign with the content,creator and her aesthetic was very,particular so she actually has quite the,following on Instagram and what she does,she posts pictures and videos with like,a very dark and neutral aesthetic so,it's like she wears black a lot of the,time,um and there's like a color correction,applied to a lot of her videos which,makes the aesthetic very dark and we,found one of our brands that was more of,a luxury brand and that had a brand,style that was ideal for such a Creator,so I gave that Creator full Direction,Over how she wanted to shoot the video,and we also got a
