tick tock has an ad revenue sharing,program called pulse and i finally,figured out how it works and it provides,a blueprint for how instagram and,youtube could also start splitting,revenue with creators and publishers for,reals and shorts respectively but first,we've got to go over why operating a,revenue sharing program for these short,form video platforms is so complicated,when youtube's been operating in a,revenue sharing program for its,traditional long form videos for more,than a decade,ticktock can't say that because they,don't have the thing what thing don't,they have they don't have an adsense,yeah tick-tock pulse and it says right,here with tick-tock pulse we will begin,exploring our first advertising revenue,share program with creators public,figures and media publishers although i,don't see anything about how it's,determining the revenue split which,wouldn't be straightforward since videos,and ads are separate in feeds,so,all right we'll have to ask tick tock,about that one,youtube already has the model everyone,wants do you think it's the model or the,technology that's the problem like,what's the difficulty of launching the,thing so i think for youtube it's very,easy to say we will extend our current,advertising model from regular youtube,to shorts,the problem to solve there is,it's not pre-roll right it's in between,swipes of video right so you have to,figure out who's responsible for the,impression like the verge,editor-in-chief nelly patel said in that,interview with hank green on his decoder,podcast the tricky thing about running a,revenue sharing program on a short form,video platform whether it's tick tock or,instagram rails or youtube shorts is,that the ads appear separately between,videos whereas on youtube the ads are,inserted into the videos this makes it,easy for youtube to split up the ad,revenue because it just counts all the,ads served to people watching creators,or publishers video how would the,revenue split work on tick tock then,should the video that played before the,ad get the credit and what about the,video that plays after the ad or all the,other videos that don't play before or,after an at so i emailed tic tac task,and i got an answer only the video that,plays before the ad is part of the pulse,program and eligible for a share of the,ad revenue the video that plays after,the ad is just a regular video and does,not qualify for a rev share also a tick,tock spokesperson said that it doesn't,matter how long a person watches a video,or watches an ad for the eligible video,to receive a revenue share meaning that,a person could swipe right past the,video swipe right past the ad and the,creator or publisher still gets paid so,basically tick-tock has adopted a,post-roll ad format for its revenue,sharing program by effectively attaching,ads to the end of videos and then,sharing the ad revenue with the makers,of those videos seems fine for a creator,publisher but how do advertisers feel,about this setup to answer that i talked,with stacy stewart who is the us chief,marketplace officer at um worldwide an,ad agency that has brand clients that,have been testing out running ads,through ticktock's pulse program stacy,said she was a little hesitant about,tick-tock pulse being at heart a,post-war program because tick tock's,charging more for these ads than for,regular ads even though to someone using,tick-tock it would be hard to tell that,these ads are any different from a,regular hat but stacy wanted to test out,tick-tock balls to see if the ads,performed any differently than regular,ads and while she said she couldn't,share specific results with me she did,say that all of um's clients participate,in the test have seen lifts in brand,awareness as a result this answers the,main question of how an ad revenue,sharing program could work on short form,video platforms like tick tock and,instagram rails and youtube shorts where,ads appear between videos in a feed but,how tick tock's program actually works,opens up a whole other question if a,creators or publisher's video must be,followed by an ad to receive a revenue,split how many ads are gonna get crammed,into people's feeds

hey everybody in today's video i want to,show you exactly how much tiktok paid me,for a million views on tick tock,and if you're not familiar with this,tick tock basically has this thing,called the tick tock creator fund,and they paid the content creators on,there a certain amount of money based on,how many views they get,now you do have to apply and you do have,to qualify,to get in but i just made a video on,everything i did to get approved for,that,so watch that if you want to join the,creator fund here i just want to show,you exactly the analytics,of the million views in a couple of days,and then exactly how much they paid for,those views,that match up with those days and with,tick-tock you could use the tick-tock,app here for all of that,and you could use also ticktock.com and,log in,and see some of your analytics on there,so i got 3.8 million views since,i actually joined about seven eight days,ago but a lot of those views were before,i joined the creator fund but here on,the tick tock app basically,if you have a creator account and you,join the fun you,you get this thing called the creator,tools if you jump in here,they have the creator fund over here but,i'll show you the analytics here,so you can see how it matches up with,the video views here so,if you go to this page what i got paid,for was,875 000 views here and 136 here,and 107 so about 1.2 million views,if you add all these up now the problem,is,you do already have to get to a hundred,thousand so the couple bigger viral,videos before that million views like,these two million views,so almost the 2.9 million views before,that didn't get monetized because it,takes a few,days to apply and then to get in after,you go viral for the first time,so let me show you what that adds up to,here under the creator fun tab so today,you can see i got a dollar,so let's look at the dashboard here so,the day,i got accepted for about 200 000 views,i got six dollars and then the day after,that,this is about 875 000 views,about 23. and then the day after that,three dollars so i didn't go viral after,this video i did go viral,multiple times previous to this video,though but i was not,in the tick tock creator fun at that,time so so far,this is about five days worth of revenue,about,36 but i did come up with a pretty good,strategy for going viral so i was able,to do it three times in seven days,but it doesn't happen every single time,and i did make a video on exactly,how i structured my video to go viral,but the real power of tick tock is not,how much they pay you for the creator,fund,it's the ability to go viral get a lot,of viewers and then get people to other,platforms or products or services,so for example what i ended up doing is,i put my youtube,channel here to try to get people to go,to youtube that didn't work so well,though because here's the problem if you,click on this,it opens a browser here so it's really,hard here to subscribe,what you want to do is actually link up,here i did it with instagram where it,takes you directly to instagram,i was able to get a couple of hundred,followers using this method,so i recommend you could link instagram,and youtube here but you could link your,website here so if you have a product or,a service,that's a good place again you need the,creator fund to add that but i want to,make a follow-up video in a few days to,show you a bunch of other ways to make,money on tick tock because the,the fact of the matter is it's so much,easier to go viral on tick-tock than any,other platform,so you could utilize that virality and,not just rely on the creator fund,because as you saw it's not very much,money so it doesn't make sense for,creators to rely on it,but you could rely on that attention and,get people to youtube and other,platforms,that'll follow up in the next upcoming,video and i'm also making a video,comparing one million views on tic tac,to 1 million views on youtube i want to,show you exactly how much i get paid for,both,so you could kind of get a comparison,it's really mind-blowing i'll post that,below as soon as it's released,i hope you found this useful please give,it a thumbs up i'll see you next time

in the last 90 days i've spent over 600,000,on tick tock ads with our clients and,every day we're migrating more and more,budget over from facebook to tick tock,and in today's video i'm going to be,covering the top five ways you can learn,from the lessons that i have after,spending six hundred thousand dollars on,tick tock ads,hello everyone my name is chase chapel,your favorite digital marketer here,let's get into this video so these are,the lessons from spending 600 000,dollars in tick tock ads and i would,have been far better off if i had,already learned these lessons in advance,or had somebody to really guide me,through the process of understanding,what it is that make tick tock ads,convert how to structure the audiences,and all of the learnings that we've had,from other platforms to be able to be,successful on tick tock ads and that's,exactly what i'm going to be doing today,is i'm going to be walking you through,the top five things that are going to,allow you seconds to 34 seconds,have a 280 percent lift and conversion,yes you heard that right 21 seconds to,34 seconds if you literally just have,tick tock ads that are at least 21 to 34,seconds long,you automatically have a competitive,advantage over other tick tock,advertisers and the reason for this lift,and conversions is because that's enough,time for you to deliver information in a,concise way to the actual consumer that,might be purchasing your product or the,business that might actually be you know,choosing to work with your service and,you want to time it between 21 to 34,seconds you don't want it to be overly,long you don't want it to be overly,short,so definitely try to be within this,range because you are going to see much,better conversions by doing so and this,is data that ticktalk actually has from,you know hundreds of thousands of,advertisers that are actually already on,the platform and we're seeing this with,our results too videos that are between,21 to 34 seconds do actually convert,better,and we also see that the 9 16 aspect,ratio does help with lifting conversions,that is vertical video y'all you'll want,to make sure you have vertical video you,don't want to try to apply square video,and have these black spaces in between,the actual video you want to make sure,that these videos are actually vertical,tick tock is a vertical placement so you,want to make sure your content actually,fits for tick tock so make sure you have,a 9x16 aspect ratio in your actual,videos that is simply filming on your,phone that's the best way to do it to,actually keep the vertical video in,check and that resolution is actually,going to be higher and that actually,leads us to the next point if your video,is actually above 720p you're going to,see a 312 lifting conversion so if you,just apply these three things you're,going to see you know 280 lift and 91,left and even up to a 312 percent lift,in conversions by having hd video if you,upload a very low quality video the back,door is this you're likely going to get,much less conversions than other,accounts would and if you have ads that,are actually converting now with a low,quality video well if you just upgrade,the quality you could be seeing much,better conversions at the exact same,cost the next thing is number two and,that's tick tock user generated content,this is very big because you have,branded ads and you have spark ads,branded ads are essentially what you see,here this is an ad by go clove and you,know their shoe brand and they have,these actual you know branded outline,where it has the colors of their blue,they're green and the actual ad and it's,very branded and when you come across it,looks very much so like an ad these,types of ads do work to some degree and,you know do have good conversion rates,depending on you know how they're,actually flexing their brand and,actually driving you know consideration,and actually having people make the,conversion based off of what's actually,in the actual ad and you can see has 57,likes you know people are commenting,that they are interested in the product,which is a good thing but overall we're,seeing much better results Tick Tock reels and shorts they're all,vying for your attention but they're,also vying for you the Creator it's no,secret that meta and Tick Tock and,YouTube all want you creating content on,their platform and their incentives for,you to do so are constantly growing and,it's YouTube that's made the latest big,announcement of how they're gonna draw,creators like you to start posting short,form video content on their platform,15 years ago YouTube made a massive,game-changing announcement they were,going to start giving 55 of their ad,Revenue to the creators themselves those,who go out there create videos and post,them on the YouTube platform this,changed the landscape of content,creation Now in 2022 and Beyond almost,half a billion people are earning,full-time salaries just creating content,on YouTube YouTube itself says they've,paid out more than 50 billion dollars to,the YouTube Partner program well just,recently on September 20th of 2022,YouTube announced that they're going to,create a similar program for their,shorts their Tick Tock competitor,starting in 2023 YouTube will be paying,back 45 percent of AD Revenue to the,creators of shorts themselves another,portion of this ad revenue is going to,be going to music labels because of how,important popular music is to this type,of content the ads will run between the,short videos as you're scrolling through,your feed and that Collective ad Revenue,will be distributed to the creators,based on how many views they're getting,on their content how much money this,will equate to well that's still unclear,we're waiting to see how this is all,going to play out once 2023 hits in the,last two years YouTube created a Creator,fund that they were using to supply,creators with a little bit of extra cash,for creating shorts this was all kind of,a method of figuring out how they could,monetize this shorter form content and a,lot of the other platforms were doing a,similar type of Creator fund YouTube's,Creator fund was a hundred million,dollars and as you posted you'd be,rewarded with a little chunk of that,fund throughout the year but now we're,doing away with the Creator fund and,we're starting fresh with an actual ad,Revenue platform and no one else has,done this yet meta hasn't done this Tick,Tock hasn't done this YouTube is taking,a huge step forward and saying we're,gonna really back creators who are,putting effort into not just long form,content but this short form content,there were some complaints when it came,to the Creator fund this being one big,chunk of money well the more creators,that you have onboarding and creating,and posting that means less money from,that chunk is being distributed to each,of the creators so someone who a year,ago was making ten dollars per 1000,views might only be making five dollars,per 1000 views now if double the,creators are posting a YouTube,spokesperson wrote the company is moving,away from a fixed fund and doubling down,on the revenue sharing model because,we've seen that it works and it's the,one way to ensure that creators continue,to benefit as the platform and community,grows so YouTube sees success with this,in the YouTube Partner program as we,said before millions and millions of,creators are earning full-time wages by,posting their long-form content so,YouTube thinks why not do this with the,short form content as well overall I,think million people,while the size of the people on facebook,platform is roughly 2.7 billion,this means that you have a much smaller,target audience to deliver your ads to,and a much smaller demographic to,deliver your ads to,the demographic targeting on tick tock,lacks what google and facebook,offer but they make up for it and ad,impressions,now if that doesn't make any sense to,you let me go ahead and explain it in,simple terms,facebook and google have so many people,on their platforms that you can target,your ads down to a,single woman that lives in paducah,kentucky who,is a manager of a company and enjoys,gardening,the ad cost is going to increase as you,niche down to that customer and if,you don't have compelling content you're,most likely going to be wasting your,money,whereas on tick tock you can spend fifty,dollars on an entire state of kentucky,and,ten thousand twenty thousand people will,see your ads within a 24 hour window,and yes you can only target states on,tick tock so unless you're covering a,large portion of the state,there's a good chance that you might be,wasting some of your ad spend on,customers,who would never buy your services now if,you're selling products then of course,that wouldn't be a problem because,if it's an e-commerce store you're more,than likely trying to reach as many,eyeballs as you can possibly get to,oh and real quick i know i'm not,covering how to set up the account and,that's only because that's very easy to,do and if you have set up any type of,business ad account before,it's pretty much identical to that open,the account connect your bank and then,install your pixel the only tip i would,give you is that if you're going to be,spending a lot of money,like thousands of dollars every week i,would start out with the manual payment,method,or you will more than likely get your,bank account flagged,because tick tock starts out with their,automatic payments at twenty dollars and,then moves you up from there each week,until your automatic payment is a,threshold of maybe about 640,all right back to the video so let's say,you're in a small city of california and,uh you own a plumbing business and,you're trying to target a population of,5 000 people your best bet is probably,spending your ad budget,on google or facebook now for audience,targeting there isn't a whole lot to,choose from,like facebook and google so tick tock,has like generalized categories,uh as long as you're you know targeting,down to you know general age,uh and gender then you most likely,should be okay,let's go ahead and focus on the right how much does a successful Tick,Tock ad campaign cost well we're going,to dive into my screen here I'm going to,share with you guys one particular,campaign that has been working,phenomenally well for one of our Tick,Tock clients we actually generated 51,book calls so one thing to understand is,that this account is for a book called,funnel this is the main kpis sales are,just part of the process we obviously,are want to add optimize for sales but,book calls is what we're going after,here so I'm just going to quickly talk,about this because you know it's a,question of how much do I need to spend,on Tick Tock right that's the answer,that you want is how much should I spend,on take that home how much do I need in,terms of budget to be able to make Tick,Tock work for my brand and that's,actually going to depend right and I,know that's not the best answer right,it's a cop-out answer is oh it depends,but in reality that's that's what it is,right so what type of offer do you have,is it an e-commerce offer do you have a,high ticket offer such as this one that,I'm displaying right here is for a high,ticket offer okay uh is your offer local,right so there are different things,there are different kpis different,objectives that will let's say give you,Clarity in terms of the budget and how,to budget for these campaigns so one is,not going to be the right answer to,every single offer on Tick Tock so I can,only speak of maybe from our experience,what has been let's say the a driver for,success in terms of this Tick Tock,campaign and maybe how much was spent,but you should really do an analysis of,you know what your numbers are and I,think that's the better answer for for,this is what are your numbers what's,your average order value would your,customer lifetime value what is your,minimal cost per acquisition that you,can get right that you need to get by,right so like if you're over twenty,dollars GPA and you're losing money then,what's the point right so you need to,really understand uh your numbers before,you can answer that question so you know,I can quickly share with you guys here I,mean this is six sales for example 22,900 in Revenue but these are sales that,are hired on the higher ticket side,and this is 51 calls right so obviously,from the 51 calls six sales took place,you know we're getting leads for 21,right I tried Drop Shipping with paid Tick,Tock ads and here are the results two,weeks ago I tried Drop Shipping with,only fifty dollars and well so today,we're gonna test our website the multi,bottle and see if paid ads are gonna be,better or if we should just move on to a,new product so let's get right into it,day one so let's start by creating some,ads now I don't have the product myself,so these ads are just made from content,I found online normally you should get,ugc content which stands for user,generated content since it performs a,lot better but we don't really have time,to ship the product to an influencer so,let's just hope for the best then let's,upload them to tick tock now we're gonna,set up the campaign as a CBL then we're,gonna do fifty dollars a day which is,the minimum select your pixel and choose,complete payment then remove these two,and select 18 to 55 plus since we don't,want some 13 year old to steal their,mom's credit card then we're gonna,select 7 to 24. now because I connected,my Tick Tock account to the ads manager,we can choose our ads here,and let's launch so the day we launched,the ads only spent three dollars and 64,cents for some reason if we go to the,Shopify dashboard we have 61 store,sessions one add to cart and no sales,day two day two was Black Friday and we,spent exactly fifty dollars but our CPM,was pretty high at 22 dollars this is,probably due to everybody our,advertising on Black Friday Also our CPC,was five dollars and it should be like,10 to 20 cents and our CTR was 0.45,percent when it should be at least one,percent on a Shopify dashboard we had 80,store sessions One ads at cart and zero,sales day three we spent fifty dollars,and got an even higher CPM but our CPC,was lower and CTR higher but these are,still very bad stats but on the Shopify,dashboard things started to look better,we got 70 store sessions five add to,cart three reach checkout and one sale,day four going into day four we again,got a 21 dollar CPM so I decided to cut,the ads at seven dollars spent in total,we had spent 111 dollars to make one,sale I got back to the drawing board and,decided that things needed to change day,five I was spending all day studying,Tick Tock ads and Tick Tock strategies,as well as making new ads so we had zero,dollars in ad spend day six on day six I,was ready with new ads and a new,strategy I decided instead of using my,post I would just create the ads,directly from the ads manager I also,added Canada an automated creative,optimization then I also raised the,budget to a hundred dollars a day so I,could lose my money faster after,spending twenty six dollars I decided to,cut the campaign since the CPC was too,high after spending 140 dollars to get,one sale I decided that it was time to,try a new product,day 7 on day seven the new product and,website was ready to be tested so we,spent 77 on ads and had a pretty good,CPM bad CPC and bad CTR on a Shopify,dashboard we had 107 store sessions with,five add to cart and two reach checkout,and zero sales day 8 on day eight I,created new ads and published them then,with only five cents an ad spend two,video views we got our first sale then,we got another sale and another sale and,another sale and we ended that day with,202 dollars in Revenue,but with the cost of ads fulfillment and,payment processor we have a solid 3.96,in profits here's the profit and loss,sheet for this challenge so we lost a,total of 216 dollars and that's why you,need a budget of minimum one thousand to,two thousand dollars when doing paid ads,but most people don't have that kind of,money lying around and that's why I'm,gonna retry organic Drop Shipping with,Tick Tock in my next video and this time,we're gonna do it with a US SIM card so,we can Target the US from Europe I,upload videos every Friday at 4 pm ESD,so subscribe and hit the Bell to get,notified about the video next week if,you have any questions or just want to,learn more join my Discord Link in the,description by the way this video right,here has,4193 likes maybe you'll like it too,thank you for watching have a great day,and I'll see you Friday
